Slovenia: Mixed trends in electricity and natural gas for Q2 2024

According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, households paid an average of 0.212 euros per kWh for electricity and 0.095 euros per kWh for natural gas in the second quarter of 2024. This marks a 5% increase in electricity prices compared to the first quarter, while natural gas prices experienced a 3% decrease.

For industrial consumers, the average electricity price in Q2 2024 was 0.162 euros/kWh (excluding VAT), reflecting a 4% decline from the previous quarter. Industrial natural gas prices also fell significantly, dropping 11% to 0.048 euros/kWh without VAT.

In an international context, Slovenia’s natural gas prices for the second half of 2023 were notably close to the EU average, with household prices (for those consuming between 5,556 and 55,556 kWh annually) at 98% of the EU average. Non-household consumers shared the same percentage without VAT for consumption between 2,777,778 and 27,777,778 kWh.

Regarding electricity, household prices (for those consuming between 2,500 and 5,000 kWh annually) were at 75% of the EU average, while non-household prices (for those consuming between 500 and 2,000 MWh annually) exceeded the EU average at 102%.

These figures highlight the evolving landscape of energy pricing in Slovenia, reflecting broader trends in both domestic and industrial sectors.
