The initiative is supported by European funding from the Modernization Fund and encompasses five key projects:

  2. Southern Transylvania Area: Installation of smart metering systems in county seat cities, such as Brasov, Sibiu, Targu Mures, Alba Iulia, and Miercurea Ciuc.
  3. North Transylvania Area: Deployment of smart meters in county seat cities, including Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, Zalau, and Baia Mare.
  4. Rasinari Commune, Sibiu County: Modernization of electricity distribution networks.
  5. Moreni, Dambovita County: Upgrading the 110/20/10 kV Moreni substation and switching to a 20 kV network.

DEER oversees an extensive electricity distribution network with approximately 3.9 million metered consumption sites of various technologies. The company aims to transition 35% of its total users to smart meters by 2028 and plans to finance the integration of the remaining users through non-refundable funds.
