BiH: Electricity production decreased to 1.35 TWh in March

Gross electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina reached 1,351 GWh in March, compared to 1,654 GWh in the same month last year, according to the data published by the Agency for Statistics. In total gross electricity production, hydropower plants participated with the share of 44.8 %, thermal power plants with 50.6% and solar and wind power plants with 4.6 %.

In the same period, net production of hydropower plants amounted to 601 GWh (-27.9%) while thermal production amounted to 614 GWh (-12.9%). Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 62 GWh.

Electricity imports rose by 42.6 % to 375 GWh from 263 GWh, while exports dropped by 21.6 % to 663 GWh, compared to 846 GWh in March 2023.

Production of lignite amounted to 476,000 tons, which is a 20.3 % decrease compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal decreased by 17.6 % to 446,000 tons.

Natural gas imports amounted to 21.16 million cubic meters, which is 16.2 % less than in the same month last year (25.24 million cubic meters).
