Romania: E.ON Romania delivers 161 solar power plants last year

Local unit of German utility E.ON has delivered 161 turnkey photovoltaic power plants to 142 partner companies across various industries, worth nearly 30 million euros.

E.ON Energie Romania has over 40 similar projects underway, the company said in a press release.

The photovoltaic power plants, located in 31 counties, cover a combined area of 178,152 sq m, comprising 74,230 PV modules. With an installed capacity of 32 MWp, the plants generate around 38 GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to power about 29,000 homes annually.

These power plants contribute to the energy independence of partner companies, with some, like Transparent Design, Thimm Packaging, and Don Pedro, relying on them for about 30% of their annual energy needs. The environmental impact of the plants amounts to reducing CO2 emissions by over 10,000 tonnes per year.

At the end of 2023, E.ON Energie Romania’s non-residential PV project portfolio comprised 359 completed projects with a total value surpassing 64 million euros. The cumulative energy production from these plants is around 85 GWh per year, leading to a reduction of approximately 23,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
