BiH: Study for the establishment of the energy exchange

In the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, a meeting of project experts “EU4Energy – Support of the European Union to the energy sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina” and representatives of the Ministry was held.

The meeting discussed the path towards the establishment of an organized electricity market in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as integration with the EU market.

An important step towards this goal would be the establishment of an electricity exchange for day-ahead and intraday electricity trading in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In this sense, the EU4Energy project will create a study that will guide the gradual, step-by-step, establishment of the electricity exchange in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The main goal of this study will be to provide relevant interested parties in BiH with guidelines on the gradual establishment of the electricity exchange in BiH. The study will include legislative, institutional and organizational analysis.

The general goal of the project “EU4Energy – Support of the European Union to the energy sector in BiH” is to ensure access to reliable, affordable, sustainable and modern energy for all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as to contribute to the fulfilment of BiH’s obligations under the Energy Community Treaty, the Paris Agreement and other international obligations.
