Bulgaria: Traded volume record on IBEX IDM in August

The traded volume on the intraday market of the Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) set a new record, reaching 204,943 MWh in August. That is 5% more than the previous record from April 2023.

Compared to the period from January to August 2022, before the introduction of 15-minute MTU on the border with Romania and the go-live of the market coupling with Greece, the increase was more than twofold. There has been an increase in the traded volume and in the share of transactions concluded via the algorithmic trading mechanism API.

At the end of the first six months, these reached 20% of all transactions concluded, which points to the increasing importance of API trading for the intraday market.
