Romania: 1.1 MW hybrid power plant commissioned

Solar developer Parapet and a renewable energy producer Blue Line Energy completed the construction of a 1.1 MW solar power plant, installed within the Bestepte wind park in Romania. This is the first operational hybrid renewable energy project in country, according to data from the national electricity transmission system operator Transelectrica.

The installed capacity of the plant amounts to 7.25 MW, with an investment of approximately 10 million euros.

The solar power plant project involved the implementation of Parapet mechanical infrastructure solutions by placing 2,652 solar panels in the vicinity of the 3 wind turbines installed in the Bestepe wind farm, which is in operation since 2014. The installed system ensures an annual electricity generation of 24 GWh, contributing to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by 20.400 tons per year.

The hybrid power plant is in trial operation, and the solar system will be fully integrated into the existing infrastructure. The wind component of the plant has been operational since 2014. In the new configuration, the solar plant will produce a larger amount of electricity during the summer period when generation from wind sources decreases, thus ensuring less variation in the electricity generation process.
