Hungary: MVM commissioned 24 MW solar power plant

MVM Zold Generacio commissioned a 24 MW solar power plant in Szeged. The project is worth 25.5 million euros and 9.7 million euros of the financing was obtained from the European Union and state support for renewable energy projects.

MVM Zold Generation, a subsidiary of state-owned energy company MVM, operates a portfolio of 150 solar power plants in Hungary, with another 33 under construction.

Installed capacity in solar has increased by 840 MW in the first five months of 2023. The combined capacity of large-scale solar power plants over 50 MW exceeded 3,000 MW by the summer and the number of household-based solar systems exceeded 200,000.

Hungary has set a target of 6 GW in solar capacity by 2030, but this target will likely be surpassed in early 2024.
