BiH: Electricity production amounted to 1.3 TWh in April

 

Gross electricity production in Bosnia and Herzegovina reached 1,327 GWh in April 2023, compared to 1,473 GWh in the same month of 2022, according to the National Agency for Statistics.

In gross electricity production, hydropower plants participated with 37%, thermal power plants with 60% and solar and wind power plants with 4%. The net production of hydropower plants reached 477 GWh in April and thermal production amounted to 714 GWh. Electricity production from renewable sources (wind and solar) reached 47 GWh.

Electricity imports rose by 31% to 290 GWh in April 2023 from 222 GWh in 2022, while exports dropped by 5 %to 641 GWh.

Production of lignite in BiH amounted to 670,000 tons in April 2023, which is by 7% more compared to the same month last year, while the production of brown coal increased by 4.3 % and amounted to 529,000 tons. Natural gas imports in April 2023 amounted to 20.96 million cubic meters, 2.1 % less compared to a year before (21.41 million cubic meters).
