Albania, KESH sold 67.2 GWh at a price of 69 to 140 euros per MWh

In January, the Albanian electric power corporation KESH managed to generate 7.6 million euros in revenue from the sale of electricity on the free market.

Electricity was sold at the first tender that KESH announced this year, while a series of tenders were also implemented at the end of last year after the improvement of the hydrological situation in the country.

In January, KESH sold about 42,000 MWh of electricity in the first lot at an average weighted price of 139.7 euros per MWh and in the second lot 25,200 MWh at an average weighted price of 69.16 euros per MWh. Electricity will be delivered in the period from January 16 to 22.

Prices on the Hungarian stock exchange HUPX, which is the benchmark for the Albanian market, were around 131 euros per MWh on Monday, while on Tuesday they were increased to 141 euros.

At the end of December 2022, KESH announced that it had exported electricity worth 14.2 million euros. The company added that thanks to abundant rainfall, the energy reserves in the cascade hydroelectric power plants on the Drina, which KESH manages, have increased to 735 GWh.
