Greece, PPC increased the January tariff by 29%, to 49 eurocents per kWh

Greek spot electricity prices for the period from December 12 to 18 rose compared to November, to around 293 euros per MWh on average, as the weekly supply volume remained above 1 TWh for the third week in a row, data from the Greek energy exchange Hellenic showed. Energy Exchange.

Electricity suppliers increased prices for January by at least 25%, and PPC, the leading supplier in the retail market, increased the tariff by 29% compared to December, to 48.9 eurocents per kWh.

State subsidies should contribute to the final price for consumers falling to around 17 euro cents per kWh.

HEnEx’s latest monthly report showed the average day-ahead market price to be around €228 per MWh in November, up from €233 per MWh in the previous month. The volume of trade decreased by 12% on the annual level, to 4.1 TWh.

Renewable energy sources had a 33% share in the total supply of electricity in November, followed by combined gas plants with 32%. The share of imports was 22%, and lignite-based thermal power plants accounted for 8%.

PPC’s market share in production of 31% was followed by the sole buyer of renewable production, state-owned Dapeep with 29%, followed by independent gas-based producers Mytilineos and Elpedision, with 11% each.
