Embargo on Russian crude oil will not affect Romania

Romanian Minister of Energy Virgil Popescu said that the embargo on Russian crude oil will not affect Romania, given that the oil companies in the country have found alternative resources and no longer use oil originated from Russia.

Minister Popescu said that the authorities held several discussions with oil companies operating in Romania and, since last week, all the refineries process only non-Russian crude oil, so Romania is independent of Russian crude oil.

According to him, the Government’s decision to subsidize the fuel price by 0.1 euros per liter proved to be good. Regarding natural gas, reserves in storages amount to more than 2.8 billion cubic meters, and the Government expects no problems with the supply of gas, oil or electricity during the winter season.

He also said that Romania still supports capping the price of all gas imported into the EU.
