Montenegro, TPP Pljevlja has been shut down on 23 April for planned maintenance

Montenegrin sole coal-fired thermal power plant Pljevlja has been shut down on 23 April for planned maintenance, which is expected to take up to 65 days to complete.

The maintenance works will include turbine overhaul (performed once in five years) and overhaul of the boilers. The overhaul’s cost is estimated to some 3.5 million euros.

Last month, CEO of state-owned power utility EPCG Nikola Rovcanin said that the works on the environmentally oriented reconstruction of TPP Pljevlja will start on 27 April. In June 2020, EPCG signed a contract for the reconstruction of coal- based thermal power plant Pljevlja with a consortium led by Chinese Dongfang Electric Company (DEC). The deadline for the completion of works is 39 months for the date of signing the contract. The selected consortium offer to perform the reconstruction for around 54.4 million euros including VAT.

In the first quarter of 2022, TPP Pljevlja produced 428 GWh of electricity, which is 6.5 % more than planned for that period. Planned electricity production for 2022 totals at 1,317 GWh.
