Region, Romania and Bulgaria have been granted access to Revythoussa (LNG) terminal

According to Greek media, Romania and Bulgaria have been granted access to Revythoussa liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal near Athens, operated by natural gas transmission system operator DESFA.

The first LNG cargo of 142,500 cubic meters for Bulgaria on behalf of MET Energy has already been scheduled for May.

The terminal was visited by the EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, who said that Greece, with its existing and planned gas infrastructure, plays a key role in Europe’s energy security. Greek Minister of Energy Kostas Skrekas said that the plan for securing energy supply in case of a disruption of gas supply from Russia envisages the expansion of the terminal’s storage capacity with the addition of a floating tank.
