Macedonia, ESM has bought a total of 26,000 MWh of electricity for the delivery

North Macedonian state-owned power utility ESM has bought a total of 26,000 MWh of electricity for the delivery between 7 and 20 November from two companies for 5.5 million euros.

The price ranged from 198 to 228 euros/MWh. The two suppliers are TE-TO Skopje and Danske Commodities.

North Macedonian Minister of Economy Kreshnik Bekteshi said that two units of TPP Bitola (unit 1 and 3) are currently in operation, which consume about 10,000 tons of coal per day. If all three units are operational, the consumption rises to 15,000 tons. At the moment, Suvodol coalmine produces about 5,000 tons of coal per day, which is not sufficient for the plant’s operation. Currently, TPP Bitola has 40,000 tons of coal in stock.

ESM received nine offers at the second tender for the supply of 900,000 tons of coal for its thermal power plant Bitola. All submitted offers cover the required amounts of coal, with two offers from local coalmines and other seven from companies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Kosovo and Albania. The winning bid should be revealed by the end of next week.
