Croatia, Koncar to supply equipment for Austrian HPP

Croatian electric equipment manufacturer Koncar said that it has been selected by an unnamed Austrian company to supply equipment and works for the construction of Gratkorn hydropower plant on the river Mura near Graz in Austria.

The statement from the company said that the contracted scope of work also includes the delivery of two new generators, each with a power of 7 MVA and a voltage of 5.3 kV, a contactless excitation system, spare parts, special tools and devices used for equipment installation and assembly, commissioning and pre-commissioning.

Koncar did not disclose the value of the deal that it won in a tender launched in early 2020. Construction works will start in September, while the completion of works on both generators is expected in February 2024

HPP Gratkorn project is a joint venture project of two Austrian energy companies: VERBUND and Energie Steiermark, with the total investment in the power plant of 62 million euros.
