Romania: Engie Romania acquired solar power plant consisting of two facilities

The solar power plant was previously owned and operated by Ever Solar, a joint venture of German Solventix and Alpin Solar. Engie Romania has completed the acquisition of a solar power plant in Romania, consisting of two facilities with combined installed capacity of 9.3 MW.

CEO of Engie Romania Eric Stab said that this acquisition marks a new stage in achieving the goal of becoming, by 2030, a major investor in the field of renewable energy in Romania and thus contributing to the group’s ambition to be the leader of the energy transition. Locally, the company’s goal is to occupy a leading position in the segment of centralized renewable energy, given that wind and solar energy will have an increasing share in the future energy mix of the country, and to provide green energy to customers.

The two power plants, located in Harghita County, were commissioned in 2015, production about 55 GWh of electricity so far. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. With this acquisition, Engie’s renewable portfolio rose to about 110 MW, with two wind farms in Braila and Galati Counties.
