Romania: Investment plan for Transgaz approved

The investment plan of natural gas transmission system operator Transgaz for the period 2020-2029, which envisages investments in a total value of 4.2 billion euro was approved by the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).

According to the approved Development Plan of the national gas transmission system, Transgaz continues one of the largest and most important programs for the development of natural gas transmission infrastructure in Romania in the last 20 years, with investment projects estimated at approximately 4.2 billion euro, projects that will result in creation of new natural gas transmission lanes essential for the transport, both on the domestic market and on the markets in the region, of the quantities of natural gas discovered in the Black Sea, but also after Romania’s integration in the great cross-border routes of the South-East/North-South Corridor of Europe.

Priority projects include the Bulgaria-Romania-Hungary-Austria (BRHA) pipeline, whose section through the Romanian territory was completed last week. Further investments include the southern transport corridor for taking over the Black Sea gas (371 million euros), the interconnection of the national transmission system with the T1 transit pipeline and the Isaccea reverse flow (77 million euros), as well as the modernization of the Isaccea and Negru Voda compressor stations, the interconnection with Serbia and with Hungary, as well as further development of the national transmission system in the northeast of the country, in order to improve the gas supply to the Republic of Moldova (174 million euros).
