Slovenia: Lower electricity production in June

Slovenia’s net electricity generation in June 2020 decreased by 4 % compared to the same month last year, according to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia.

In June 2020, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 1,373 GWh, which is 11 % more than in the previous month. At the same time, consumption reached 1,021 GWh, which is a 1 % increase compared to May 2020, but 12 % lower compared to June 2019. In June, production in thermal power plants increased by 5 % compared to the same month in 2019, production in hydropower plants decreased by 12 %, while production at nuclear power plant Krsko remained approximately the same. In June 2020, Slovenia imported 5434 GWh (- 42 % compared to June 2019) of electricity and exported 765 GWh (- 21 %). Supply of energy commodities in general went up in June, except from the supply of heating oil which dropped by 49 %, natural gas by 16 % and diesel by 6 %. Compared to the previous month, an increase in supply of lignite and brown coal (64 %) was recorded, as well as hard coal (58 %), petrol (45 %), kerosene (24 %) and coke (6 %).
