Croatia: 388,594 MWh traded on CROPEX in April

A total volume of 388,594 MWh of electricity was traded on the Croatian energy exchange CROPEX in April 2019, which is 12.7 % more than in March, of which 379,676 MWh on the day-ahead market and 8,918 MWh on the intraday market.

Average daily base price on day-ahead market in April amounted to 45.61 euros/MWh, which is 15.3 % higher than in the previous month, while average euro-peak price reached 48.77 euros/MWh, 12.6 % higher compared to the previous month. The average price on the intraday market was 52.08 euros/MWh (+ 24.3 %). There are 19 participants on CROPEX day-ahead market, of which ten have been active on the intraday market as well. Average daily traded volume on the day-ahead market in April amounted to 12,656 MWh.

CROPEX was launched on 11 March 2016 in cooperation with Nord Pool, Europe’s leading electricity exchange, and is co-owned by the Croatian electricity transmission system operator (HOPS) and the Croatian electricity market operator (HROTE). Intraday market was launched in April 2017. On 19 June this year, after joint project of Croatian and Slovenian transmission system operators and power exchanges, CROPEX day ahead market was successfully coupled with MRC markets through Croatian – Slovenian border.
