The energy community adopted the goals until 2030

The Minister of Mining and Energy, Dubravka Đedović, participated in the meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Energy Community in Vienna, where the goals until 2030 were adopted regarding the reduction of primary and final energy consumption, the use of renewable energy sources and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

As stated in the Ministry’s announcement, a new package related to electricity was also adopted, which will enable market integration of the region into the European market based on the principle of reciprocity, and will support greater integration of renewable energy sources and green transition.

Đedović stated that in the coming period, Serbia will finish work on strategic documents – Energy Development Strategy until 2040 with projections until 2050 and on the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan.

She reminded the Ministerial Council that when implementing the adopted directives, the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity must be respected, as well as the legislative framework of Serbia.

European Commissioner Kadri Simson said that at today’s meeting, great progress was made in advancing the decarbonization program.

“It is important that the electricity package, which was adopted today, will contribute to the integration of renewable energy sources into energy systems. After the rules are implemented, the contracting parties of the Energy Community will have full access to the electricity market in the EU,” Simson said, N1 reports.
