Slovenia: Renewable energy covered the majority of electricity consumption in the first days of May

In the first three days of May, Slovenia met most of its electricity demand with energy produced from renewable sources, while on May 4, more electricity from RES was produced than was consumed daily, the Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Energy announced.

According to the data from the transmission network operator Eles, electricity from renewable sources covered 59.9% of the total electricity demand on May 1 and 79% on May 2, respectively. On both days, electricity in Slovenia was almost entirely produced from RES, as neither the Krško Nuclear Power Plant nor the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant were operating, according to the ministry.

The coverage of electricity consumption with electricity from RES was 78.6% on May 3, and 100.7% on May 4.

Considering that the data were provided by the transmission network operator, the production from dispersed power plants (solar power plants, small hydropower plants and wind power plants), which are connected to the distribution network, were not taken into account.
