Slovenia: Lower household electricity prices in Q2 2020

Slovenian households were paying 0.13 euros per kWh of electricity and 0.06 euros per kWh of natural gas in the second quarter of the year, according to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia.

Compared to the first quarter of the year, electricity prices dropped by 7 %, while gas prices remained the same. The average electricity price for industrial consumers in the second quarter of 2019 amounted to 0.09 euros/kWh without VAT, which is a 1 % decrease compared to the previous quarter. Natural gas prices for industrial consumers in Slovenia decreased by 7 % compared to the first quarter of the year and amounted to 0.03 euros/kWh without VAT. In the second half of 2019 natural gas prices for household consumers were 16 % lower than the EU average. The international comparison of natural gas prices for the second half of 2019 shows that in Slovenia the price with all taxes for household consumers represented 84 % of the EU-28 average and for non-household consumers without VAT 111 % of the EU-28 average. In the same period the electricity price with all taxes for household consumers (2,500–5,000 kWh annual consumption) represented 77 % of the EU-28 average and for non-household consumers without VAT (500–2,000 MWh annual consumption) 79 % of the EU-28 average.
