Slovenia: Electricity generation and energy supply trends in February 2025

According to data from the Statistical Office of the Republic of Slovenia, the country’s net electricity generation in February 2025 decreased by 9% compared to the same month last year. In February 2025, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 1,168 GWh, which is 8% lower than the previous month.

In February, production in thermal power plants decreased by 2% compared to February 2024, while production in hydropower plants decreased by 30%. Production at the Krško nuclear power plant was 3% lower. However, production from wind and solar power plants increased by 17%.

In February 2025, Slovenia imported 883 GWh of electricity, which is 6% more than in February 2023, and exported 843 GWh, marking a 15% decrease.

Household electricity consumption in February 2025 totaled 321 GWh, which is 10% lower than the previous month. Commercial consumption amounted to 592 GWh, a 5% decrease compared to January.

Overall, the supply of energy commodities in February decreased, except for LPG supply, which rose by 17%, petrol by 7%, kerosene by 4%, and other petroleum products by 1%. A decrease in supply was recorded for hard coal (16%), natural gas (11%), heating oil (8%), diesel (6%), and lignite and brown coal (3%).

Compared to February 2024, the supply of other petroleum products increased by 88%, petrol by 34%, LPG by 21%, natural gas by 15%, heating oil by 12%, and hard coal by 6%.
