Slovenia, Country’s net electricity generation in August 2021 decreased by 2 %

According to the data from the Statistical Office of Republic of Slovenia, country’s net electricity generation in August 2021 decreased by 2 % compared to the same month last year.

In August 2021, total net electricity generation in Slovenia reached 1,329 GWh, which is 14 % more than in the previous month. At the same time, consumption reached 1,059 GWh, which is a 5 % decrease compared to July, while 1 % less electricity was consumed in August 2020. In August, production in thermal power plants increased by 4 % compared to the same month in 2020, production in hydropower plants decreased by 10 %, while NPP Krsko produced 1 % less electricity compared to the same month last year. In August 2021, Slovenia imported 543 GWh (16 % more compared to August 2020) of electricity and exported 779 GWh (+ 5 %).

Supply of energy commodities in general went down in August, except from the supply of lignite and brown coal which rose by 80 %, heating oil by 65 % and petrol by 10 %. Compared to the previous month, a decrease in supply of other petroleum products (23 %) was recorded, as well as LPG (16 %), hard coal (15 %), coke (12 %), natural gas (2 %), diesel (2%) and kerosene (1 %).

Compared to August 2020, the supply of heating oil increased by 133 %, kerosene by 67 %, natural gas by 14 %, petrol by 11 % and coke by 9 %.
