Serbia: Zijin plans to build 300 MW solar power plant

Zijin Mining, the operator of copper mine near Bor, plans to build solar power plants with total capacity of 300 MW in order to produce electricity for its own consumption.

The initial plan was to build 100 MW solar power plants by 2033, but the capacity has now been increased threefold. This would be the largest solar project in Serbian industrial sector by far.

The company’s subsidiary Serbia Zijin Copper said in April that it intends to achieve climate neutrality by 2050. The plan for 100 MW in solar capacity was supposed to be implemented in three phases, starting with a 9.9 MW solar power plant.
