Vetroelektrana Banat-5, a local company, is moving forward with plans to build a 120 MW wind farm, along with two solar power plants, in the Alibunar municipality. The Detailed Regulation Plan (DRP), currently under public review, covers an area of approximately 2,503 hectares.
The project will be carried out in two phases. The first phase will involve the installation of 28 wind turbines in the cadastral areas of Banatski Karlovac and Nikolinci. The second phase will focus on developing two solar power plants in Banatski Karlovac.
Initial assessments suggest that each wind turbine will have a capacity of up to 8 MW, bringing the total installed capacity of the wind farm to 120 MW. The wind turbine towers, including the blades at their highest position, will reach a maximum height of 250 meters, with rotor diameters of around 190 meters.
As for the solar power plants, one will have a maximum installed capacity of 60 MW, while the other will have up to 70 MW. WindVision, a Belgian-Dutch company, owns Vetroelektrana Banat-5. In 2019, WindVision and the municipality of Alibunar signed an agreement for the right of easement to install electricity transmission cables for the construction of a new wind farm, Banat 1. This complex will consist of two wind farms: Banat 1 near Vladimirovac, which will feature 44 turbines and a total capacity of 186 MW, and Banat 2 near Nikolinci, with 25 turbines and a capacity of 140 MW.
Additionally, in 2023, Vetroelektrana Banat-4 presented the DRP for the Vetropark-1 wind farm in the areas of Banatsko Novo Selo, Kacarevo, and Pancevo. This complex will include 25 turbines with a total installed capacity of 150 MW.
Last month, Emergy Group, in partnership with WindVision International, completed a deal to sell 168 MW of wind projects in Serbia to Heavy Energy International, a Hong Kong-based subsidiary of Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Sany Renewable Energy. This transaction includes the rights to the Alibunar wind farm A and B sites, with a combined capacity of 168 MW, expected to produce around 480 GWh of electricity annually.
