Serbia, USAID has launched the five-year project “Investments in Energy” worth 20 million dollars

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has launched the five-year project “Investments in Energy” worth 20 million dollars, with the aim to help the countries in the region identify and further develop energy projects.

US Ambassador to Serbia Christopher Hill said that the energy crisis Europe faces requires regional cooperation. The program is expected to result in investments in energy projects in the region worth millions, Hill said, adding that Serbia will play the key role in this program, which will help it and other countries of the Western Balkans to ensure energy security in the future.

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Zorana Mihajlovic said that investments in new energy capacities, as well as an efficient implementation of the green energy transition and the strengthening of regional connections are crucial for Serbia in order to ensure its energy security and independence.

She reminded that, since 2001, over 880 million dollars has been invested through the USAID of the total of 1.2 billion dollars of US help to Serbia. The fields of energy and energy security are the most important topics on the global level today, since the world is in the midst of a big energy crisis, Minister Mihajlovic concluded.
