Serbia: SEEPEX reports September 2025 day-ahead market activity with rising prices despite lower trading volumes

In September 2025, a total of 457,625 MWh of electricity was traded on the day-ahead market of the Serbian energy exchange SEEPEX, marking a 4.3 percent decrease compared to August, with an average of 15,254.2 MWh per day. Trading volumes were also 9.9 percent lower than in the same month of the previous year.

The average daily base price on the day-ahead market in September stood at 97.99 euros per MWh, representing a 20.9 percent increase compared to August. The average euro-peak price reached 91.5 euros per MWh, rising sharply by 54.9 percent.

SEEPEX was launched on 17 February 2016 with an initial traded volume of 1,925 MWh. It is jointly owned by Serbia’s transmission system operator EMS and the European Power Exchange (EPEX SPOT), with the goal of fostering a competitive, transparent, and reliable electricity market in Serbia and Southeast Europe. The exchange also aims to drive higher regional electricity trading volumes.

In addition to its day-ahead market, SEEPEX expanded operations in July 2023 with the launch of an intraday market.
