Serbia: Large investments in wind farms in Vojvodina

In the past five years, 700 million euros were invested in the construction of seven wind farms with combined installed capacity of 398 MW on the territory of Serbia’s northern province of Vojvodina, said the Provincial Secretary for Energy, Construction and Transport Ognjen Bjelic.

Secretary Bijelic visited wind farm in Kovacica where he handed over the construction permit for the new Pupin wind farm to the investor Enlight K2 Wind. The new wind farm will consist of 16 wind turbines with total installed capacity of 95.5 MW. It represents the expansion of the existing Kovacica wind farm and should be put into operation in the second half of 2023. The project already obtained an energy permit in March 2021.

Bjelic also said that the adoption of the new Law on Renewable Energy Sources is a clear signal that investors in the field of renewable energy sources are desirable and shows the direction in which Serbia’s energy policy is moving.
