Serbia: Hyundai and UGT to build utility-scale solar power plants

The group of bidders consisting of the companies Hyundai Engineering Co.LTD, Hyundai Eng. America Inc. and UGT Renewables LLC. will be strategic partners of the state for the construction of large-capacity solar power plants, according to the decision of the Government of Serbia.

Hyundai and UGT Renewables will build the state’s large-capacity solar power plants

It is about the previously announced construction project without management and maintenance of of self-balanced large-capacity solar power plants with battery systems for electricity storage in Serbia. The future solar power plants will have a total installed capacity of 1 GW, and the plan is for the construction of the solar power plants to be completed by June 1, 2028.

The project, as stated in the invitation, will be developed, built and handed over to EPS under the turnkey system.

This means that strategic partners, Hyundai Engineering Co.LTD, Hyundai Eng. America Inc. and UGT Renewables LLC. apart from the construction of solar power plants and battery systems, they must also build all other infrastructure.

The project consists of two components: solar power plants and battery systems for electricity storage.

Solar power plants will have a total installed power of 1,000 MWac (or 1,200 MWdc), and to ensure the greatest uniformity of electricity production, the total installed power must be distributed among five or more independent solar power plants.

Future solar power plants will have a total installed capacity of 1 GW

The locations where the solar power plants will be located as well as the number and installed power of each solar power plant will be proposed by the strategic partner.

Battery systems for the storage of electricity, with a total installed power of at least 200 MW and the ability to accumulate at least 400 MWh of electricity, will be deployed at several strategically important locations within the power system of Serbia.

By the way, in August 2021, the Ministry of Mining and Energy signed a cooperation agreement with the American company UGT Renewables LLC, which deals with renewable energy sources. The intention of the company from Florida, as it was said at the time, was to build solar panels with a total power of about 1,000 MW, on an area of about 2,000 hectares at a dozen locations throughout Serbia.
