Serbia establishes SPV Banatski Dvor to oversee strategic gas storage expansion

The Serbian Government has approved the creation of a new state-owned company, SPV Banatski Dvor, based in Novi Sad, to manage the expansion of the country’s only underground gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor.

The expansion project, which is already in progress, aims to double the storage capacity to enhance Serbia’s energy security, addressing rising gas demand from industry and households.

The plan includes drilling 12 new boreholes, with equipment contracts already signed. The project is being implemented by the facility’s shareholders, Srbijagas and Gazprom.

The total investment is estimated at 145 million euros, according to Minister of Energy and Mining Dubravka Djedovic.
