Serbia, Construction of the Serbian section of gas interconnection between Serbia and Bulgaria has officialy started

The construction of the Serbian section of gas interconnection between Serbia and Bulgaria, that will stretch from the city of Nis to the border with Bulgaria near Dimitrovgrad, has officially started.

The deadline for the completion of the whole gas pipeline is October 2023. The Serbian section will be 109 kilometers long, and the total length of the two-way gas pipeline through both states is 170 kilometers, with a capacity of 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas a year.

The total value of the Serbian part of the project is 85.5 million euros, of which 25 million is a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), 49.6 million are grants from the IPA fund of the EU, and the remaining sum of some 11 million euros will be secured from Serbia’s budget and the funds of state-owned gas company Srbijagas.

The project of the construction of the Nis – Dimitrovgrad main gas pipeline envisages the installation of two gas pipelines of the DN 700 size
for a pressure of 55 bars, as well as four measuring-regulation stations with auxiliary facilities. The completion of this gas pipeline will enable further development of a distribution gas network in central, eastern and southern Serbia.
