Serbia, Beogradske Elektrane launched a tender for the preparation of the study of the geothermal potential

Serbian Belgrade-based public heating utility Beogradske Elektrane launched a tender for the preparation of the study of the geothermal potential of the underground water resources in the territories of the heating plants and boiler rooms, eighteen in total, of the company.

Beogradske Elektrane plans, in line with the European tendencies toward creating a new generation of district heating systems without CO2 emissions, to save as much as possible on the consumption of the main energy sources in the coming period – natural gas and liquid fuel, electrical energy and raw and technological water, that is, to make the operations of the facilities and the distribution network as efficient and profitable as possible.

The main goals in the preparation of the study are the execution of detailed geothermal explorations in the selected locations of heating plants in Belgrade, the estimate of geothermal potentials, the selection of a pilot area for further explorations in the sense of exploitation of geothermal resources, the quantification of geothermal resources and looking into the possibilities of being included in central heating systems and determining the feasibility of the use of geothermal resources in the technical and financial senses for each of the locations. The explorations need to be done for the projected depths of up to 5,000 meters and temperatures up to 150 degrees Celsius.

Estimated value of the contract is 260,000 euros and the deadline for bids submissions is 24 August.
