Construction work on the first four boreholes at Serbia’s only underground gas storage facility in Banatski Dvor is nearing completion. Three boreholes have already been finished, while the fourth is expected to be completed in October, allowing the first gas injection to begin. In addition to the boreholes, above-ground systems for gas preparation, including well lines, compressors, and processing infrastructure, are also under development.
Plans are in place to build eight more boreholes starting in spring 2026, with completion targeted for spring 2027. The Ministry of Mining and Energy has confirmed that the overall expansion of the facility is expected to be finished by the end of 2026.
Once the expansion is complete, the facility’s storage capacity will increase from 450 million cubic meters to 750 million cubic meters. Daily production capacity will also grow, reaching 10 to 12 million cubic meters of gas.
The project is being financed by the facility’s shareholders, the Serbian state-owned company Srbijagas and Russian company Gazprom International Projects.
