Serbia, Average annual heating consumption is close to 150 kWh per square meter

According to Serbia’s Energy Agency (AERS), the average annual heating consumption in Serbia is close to 150 kWh per square meter, which is by 30 kWh more than in the European Union.

Around two thirds of the energy spent in households in both Serbia and the EU are used for heating living spaces, that is, around 0.9 tons of oil equivalent or 10,500 kWh a year.

However, the structure of the energy sources used in households has an additional effect on the energy efficiency. Households in Serbia secure around 40 % of the heating energy from biomass and coal, and in the EU, it is around 15 %, where the biggest share belongs to the gas, using furnaces with a low efficiency quotient.
