Romania: Unit 1 at HPP Slatina commissioned

Hidroelectrica has commissioned the first modernized unit at hydropower plant Slatina. The modernization works were completed by Hidroserv and the total investment in the project reached 5.2 million euros. The modernization works will extend the unit’s operational life by an additional 30 years.

The modernization unit 1 at HPP Slatina marks the completion of a new stage in the company’s mission to ensure a sustainable source of electricity for Romania, Hidroelectrica’s CEO Bogdan Badea said. The investment confirms Hidroelectrica’s solid commitment to the development and modernization of the energy infrastructure, so the company can continue to provide green and safe electricity for all citizens in the country.

The modernization contract was initially awarded to Romelectro, but it was terminated due to delays in February 2022.
