Rompetrol Rafinare is seeking a partner to build and operate a green hydrogen plant to decarbonise its Petromidia Refinery.
The plant should be located near or on the grounds of the refinery and be capable of producing 11,000 tons of green hydrogen annually. This necessitates a renewable electricity supply of around 75 MW which should be secured by the partner.
The green hydrogen produced will be transported via pipeline to the Petromidia Refinery, where it will replace the grey hydrogen currently utilised.
The Bucharest-based crude oil producer and refiner is looking for a company to fund, design, build, and manage the electrolyser facility.
Rompetrol will ensure water availability and provide land for the plant. Additionally, it will enter into a long-term offtake agreement.
Rompetrol may also consider developing a 40 MW solar park to partially supply renewable energy for the project.
