Romania: Romgaz boosts domestic gas sales and storage injections in first half of 2025

Romania’s state-owned natural gas producer Romgaz reported a 12.55 percent increase in sales of domestically produced natural gas in the first half of 2025, delivering a total of 2.52 billion cubic meters.

Total hydrocarbon production edged up slightly, rising 0.4 percent year-on-year to 16.19 million barrels of oil equivalent. Within this total, crude natural gas output remained nearly unchanged at 15.98 million barrels of oil equivalent, reflecting a minimal decline of 0.05 percent. However, condensate production saw a significant jump of nearly 53 percent, reaching approximately 210,000 barrels of oil equivalent.

Electricity generation, on the other hand, experienced a sharp decline, dropping 24.2 percent to 341.5 gigawatt-hours (GWh).

In the natural gas storage segment, Romgaz increased its injections into underground storage facilities by 13.3 percent, reaching 929.7 million cubic meters. Withdrawals also rose by 27 percent, totaling 1,249.5 million cubic meters.
