In June, Romgaz began drilling operations for the 54 Damianca well in the Caragele gas field, aiming to reach a final depth of 5,100 meters. The project is focused on identifying previously untapped gas resources and analyzing geological formations located beyond 4,000 meters. According to the company, the drilling is progressing on schedule and without issues.
Located in Romania’s Buzău and Brăila counties, the Caragele field is a key asset in Romgaz’s natural gas production portfolio. The current drilling work continues to confirm the field’s commercial viability and highlights its strategic significance for the company. Romgaz plans to drill at least ten deep wells in this area as part of its broader development program, with the potential to add three more depending on initial exploration results.
The company underscores that its strategy involves a strong focus on exploration to maintain current output and ensure long-term growth. These initiatives are part of Romgaz’s wider commitment to responsible energy development and support for the global energy transition.
