The Plose solar power plant in Calarasi County has been officially connected to Romania’s national electricity grid, marking a significant step in the country’s renewable energy development. The project was developed by Alerion Clean Power and constructed by Parapet, representing a total investment of 26.8 million euros, including an 18.5 million euro loan from BCR with financing extending to 2040.
Covering 50 hectares, the facility has an installed capacity of 35 MW and is expected to produce approximately 55.5 GWh of electricity annually, enough to power thousands of homes. For Alerion, the Plose plant forms part of a broader 700 million euro plan to expand its renewable energy portfolio to over 1.5 GW.
The project also underscores the achievements of Parapet, a Romanian EPC contractor specializing in renewables. Founded in 2012 and headquartered in Cluj-Napoca, with offices in Bucharest and subsidiaries in Germany and Italy, Parapet has contributed to over 1.5 GW of clean energy capacity across 17 European countries through more than 350 projects in solar, wind, and hybrid technologies.
The commissioning of the Plose solar plant reinforces Romania’s role as a key hub for international renewable energy investments and highlights the accelerating pace of the country’s energy transition.
