Romania, Photon Energy will built three new solar power plants

Dutch-based solar developer Photon Energy said that it will built three new solar power plants in the Oltenia region.

Located near the town of Calafat in Dolj County, the power plants will cover over 10.2 hectares of land and will consist of 10,800 solar panels. Their combined installed capacity will be 6 MW, with an estimated annual electricity generation of 9.6 GWh.

CEO of Photon Energy Georg Hotar said that Romania is becoming the company’s main market in central and estern Europe. The power plants in Calafat mark another important stage in the company’s efforts to reach a total solar capacity of 32 MW in Romania by the end of 2022.

After these three power plants are completed, the company will have a total of 93 solar power plants in its global portfolio.

Photon Energy recently started expanding its portfolio in Romania. The first solar power plant to be built is located near Aiud, in Alba County, and will generate 6.8 GWh of electricity per year. The company also started the construction of another solar power plant in Arad County last month. The company is currently developing photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of 236 MW in Romania.
