Romania: Parapet and Alerion sign seven new solar projects totaling 80 MW

Romanian renewable energy engineering company Parapet has signed seven new contracts with Italian renewables developer Alerion, expanding their long-term partnership with projects totaling nearly 80.8 MW across Romania and Italy.

Construction will take place in Romania’s Teleorman and Călărași counties and in Italy’s Puglia and Tuscany regions, with most installations expected to be completed by 2026. The projects will include around 120,000 bifacial photovoltaic modules mounted on single-axis trackers, covering about 110 hectares.

One of the Italian projects, located in Sant’Agata, will integrate with an existing 20 MW wind farm, creating a hybrid solar-wind system to improve overall energy production and grid stability. This will be Parapet’s third hybrid installation, further demonstrating its expertise in combining renewable technologies.

The new agreements mark a key milestone in Parapet’s international expansion. The company has established operations in six Italian regions, signing new contracts worth approximately 5 million euros, and has conducted structural testing campaigns to enhance solar infrastructure design standards under diverse environmental conditions.

For Alerion, the projects strengthen its presence in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in Romania — seen as one of the region’s fastest-growing renewable energy markets. Together, the seven solar plants are expected to generate over 150 GWh of clean energy annually, reducing CO₂ emissions by more than 45,000 tons and supplying renewable electricity to tens of thousands of households.

Founded in 2012, Parapet has delivered more than 350 renewable energy projects across 15 European countries, totaling over 2 GW of installed capacity in solar, wind, and hybrid systems.
