Romania: OPCOM price lower than March last year

Traded volume in March reached 2.462 million MWh, which is 22.29 % more than in March 2019, and 3.33 % more than in February 2020. Average traded volume in March 2020 amounted to 3,313.2 MWh/h. The average price of electricity on day-ahead market of the Romanian energy exchange OPCOM amounted to 29.66 euros/MWh in March 2020, which is 22.89 % lower compared to the same month in 2019 and 26.8 % lower compared to the previous month, when average baseload price amounted to 40.52 euros/MWh. The total value of transactions in March amounted to 74.97 million euros, which is by 6.77 % lower compared to March last year (80.41 million euros) and 23.77 % lower than in the previous month (98.34 million euros).

The share of day-ahead market in forecasted net consumption in March 2020 amounted to 51.54 %. A total of 55,596.1 MWh was traded on intraday market in March, with an average price of 37.39 euros/MWh. Total traded volume for bilateral contracts with delivery in March amounted to 1.542 million MWh, with an average price of 55.36 euros/MWh.
