Romania, Nuclearelectrica recorded a net profit in the amount of 250 million euros in H1 2022

Romanian electricity producer Nuclearelectrica, the operator of the country’s sole nuclear power plant Cernavoda, recorded a net profit in the amount of 250 million euros in the first half of 2022, compared to 79 million euros profit recorded in the same period last year.

The company’s operating profit rose 133 % year- on-year to 348 million euros. Operating revenues increased by 127 % to 644 million euros in the first six months of 2022, mostly due to a 143 % increase of the weighted average price of the electricity sold in the first half of the year.

Nuclearelectrica generated 4.78 million MWh of electricity in the first half, which is by 2.3 % less compared to the first half of 2021.

Revenues from electricity sales rose to 631.5 million euros in the first half of 2022, compared to 275 million euros in the same period of the previous year.

The company invested 74.5 million euros in the first six months of the year, representing almost half of the investment budget allocated for this year .
