About one million of residential electricity consumers have changed their contracts since the beginning of the year, according to data published by the National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE).

Out of the total number of residential customers (8.9 million), 5,902,323 were in the regulated electricity market on 1 January 2021. Between 1 January and 30 April, 926,000 residential consumers have signed contracts of electricity supply in a competitive regime, and their number has currently reached about one million. However, the number of consumers which have changed their electricity supplier was not specified.

Regarding natural gas, out of the number of residential customers who had not exercised their eligibility right on 30 June 2020 (3,378,309), 21.1 % concluded contracts related to the supply of natural gas on the free market by 30 April 2021, namely 712,937 household consumers.
