Romania: HPP Jidoaia modernization finished

The modernization of the 110 kV substation at pump-storage hydropower plant Jidoaia, was completed by Hidroelectrica. This investment worth some 400,000 euros.

CEO of Hidroelectrica Bogdan Badea said that this is just a first step in the investment cycle aimed to modernize substations at its hydropower plants: Bradisor, Avrig, Scoreiu, Arpasu, Vistea, Voila, Clabucet and Oesti. He said that, in addition to the traditional contractors, Hidroelectrica’s tenders have started to attract more and more new companies. In addition to acquiring new electricity generation capacities, the company intends to increase the number of modernization projects at its existing HPPs and further accelerate the pace of investments.

Earlier this week, Hidroelectrica said that it is planning to bid for 108 MW Crucea wind farm, currently operated by local subsidiary of German STEAG. The move is part of its strategy to diversify its portfolio by acquiring other renewable energy production capacities. Hidroelectrica will ask its shareholders to approve the acquisition of due diligence services and M&A consultancy for the acquisition of Crucea wind farm at the next general extraordinary meeting scheduled for 23 October.

The company is also interested in acquiring wind farms operated by Czech energy company CEZ.
