Romania, GreenVolt buys 43 MWp PV power plant for 83m euros

Portuguese renewable energy producer GreenVolt announced on Wednesday that it has bought a 45 MWp photovoltaic fleet in Romania, valued at 83m euros.

The purchase was realized through the subsidiaries of GreenVolt – V-Ridium Solar 45 and V-Ridium Renewables, it is stated in the press release.

The property was owned by Samsung C&T Corporation, LSG Building Solutions and Green Source Consulting.

Part of the electricity produced in the PV park is sold on the market, while the other component of the regular income is green certificates, which are valid until 2031. Most of these green certificates have been agreed in euros with the German energy company E.ON, GreenVolt announced.

“This purchase marks another step in the growth strategy defined by GreenVolt. LIONS Park strengthens our renewable production capacity, opening up a wide range of opportunities for the commercialization of this energy, “said GreenVolt CEO Joao Manso Neto.

GreenVolt expects to optimize the financial return on investment through the potential conclusion of a bilateral agreement for the sale of unregulated electricity (PPA) and the optimization of the park’s operational management.

Greenvolt – Energias Renovaveis, based in Lisbon, owned by the Portuguese industrial group ALTRI, is mainly active in the forest biomass electricity generation sector.

In September, GreenVolt expanded to the markets of Bulgaria, Romania and Italy through V-Ridium, a Polish renewable energy developer. Greenvolt bought V-Ridium in July. The Polish company is focused on Poland, Greece, Italy and France, and is actively exploring Bulgaria and Romania.

In mid-March, GreenWolt announced that he did not expect the war in Ukraine to affect the operations of his Polish unit in Romania and Poland.
