Romania: GE Vernova secures agreement for 140 MW wind farm

GE Vernova has finalized an agreement with Public Power Corporation Renewables (PPC R) to supply, install, and commission 23 of its 6.1 MW, 158-meter wind turbines for a new wind farm in Vaslui County, Romania. This deal, booked in the second quarter of 2024, will enhance GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind presence in Romania, adding 140 MW to its existing installed base of over 700 MW in the country.

The initial turbine deliveries are set for the first half of 2025, with the project expected to reach full operational status by the end of 2025. Once completed, the wind farm is projected to generate enough electricity to power approximately 62,000 households.

The partnership aligns with Romania’s ambitious renewable energy goals, which include adding 5 GW of wind capacity by 2030. Gilan Sabatier, Chief Commercial Officer for GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind business in International Markets, expressed enthusiasm about the project, noting that it supports Romania’s energy strategy while advancing GE Vernova’s mission to provide leading technology for global electrification and decarbonization. Sabatier highlighted GE Vernova’s long-standing commitment to the EU energy transition and its role in deploying cutting-edge technology in projects across the region.

GE Vernova’s Onshore Wind division boasts a global installed base of approximately 56,000 turbines and nearly 120 GW of installed capacity. With over two decades of experience, the company continues to offer next-generation technology that drives decarbonization and supports sustainable, affordable renewable energy generation.
