Romania: Gas imports amounted to nerly 2 million ten in the first 11 months of 2023

Romanian natural gas imports in the first eleven months of 2023 amounted to 1.995 million tons of oil equivalent, which is 2% more compared to the same period last year, according to data published by the National Institute for Statistic.

In the same period, natural gas production amounted to 6.841 million ten, which is 2% (117,500 ten) higher compared to the same period in 2022.

According to the estimates of the National Strategy and Forecast Commission (CNSP), natural gas production is expected to rise at an average annual rate of 4% in the period 2023-2026, after a decrease of 1% (to 7.343 million tons of oil equivalent) in 2022. 

CNSP predicts for 2023 an increase in gas production by around 6% (to 7.755 million ten), for 2024 by 2% (to 7.935 million), for 2025 by 3% (to 8.15 million) and for 2026 with 4% (to 8.455 million).
